A nine-match unbeaten run came to an end on Tuesday, October 11 as the Scots lost to Rhode Island College. However, Gordon outscored opponents 19-0 in the three matches before the loss. Caleb Cole ’17 has already set a career high in points (27, 8G 10A) and Matt Chartier ’20 continues to impress, with seven goals in the season.
Lexi Potter ’20 collected CCC Rookie of the Week honors after scoring three goals in three games. The defensive unit has been particularly reliable of late, holding opponents to 0.92 goals per game. A two-match winning streak was halted with a tough OT loss against Maine Maritime.
In the heart of the conference schedule, the Scots snagged two big wins before falling to Endicott, going to 2-5 in conference. Goalkeeper Shannon Hicks ’17 ranks second in the CCC in goals-against average (2.08) and save percentage (.757).
Recent wins over Nichols and University of New England have Scots looking like a conference contender (4-1 CCC). The team has collected more kills than their opponents in each of their last six matches, as of October 11. Renee Cooprider ’19 leads the CCC in assists (560).
A 9-0 win over Salve Regina locked up the number four seed for Gordon, finishing 7-5 overall and 5-3 in conference. Abbie Denney ’19 was named to the Conference First team. Denney and Justine Hanson ’19 made the doubles first team.
Angie Epplett ’20 placed seventh in the Pop Crowell meet to earn Rookie of the Week honors. Damon Kilgore ’18 continues to outrun the competition, setting course records and personal bests along the way. The CCC Championship meet is scheduled for Oct. 29.
